Question: How do I setup my email in Microsoft Outlook?

How do I set my email up in Microsoft Outlook?

    Solution:
This solution assumes you have Outlook 2003. However, previous versions of Outlook may have similar steps.

    Verify the mail URL

You need to first verify the mail url you have been given is valid by sending an email through your web browser. Usually the mail address is something like http://mail.yourdomain.com or http://webmail.yourdomain.com. Login with the email address and password given to you by an administrator or i4.

Note: You need the address after the "http://" to continue. If you cannot access the page, contact support@i4.net to setup the mail server so it is accessible.

Create a new message and send it to yourself. If you can receive and send the email messages, the URL is valid and we can continue setting up Outlook to receive and send messages.

    Setting up Outlook

    • Go to Tools > Email Accounts on the menu bar.
    • Select the option to add a new email account under the "email" section.
    • Hit next.
    • Select POP3 from the list.
    • Fill in the information.
      • Your name: This is the name that shows up in the receiver's inbox.
      • Email Address: Your email address.
      • Incoming Mail Server: This is the URL obtained from above. IE mail.yourdomain.com.
      • Outgoing Mail Server: The same as the incoming mail server.
      • Username: The username provided by your administrator. (Do not include @yourdomain.com in the username).
      • Password: The password for the account.

    • Click on the More Settings button.
    • Select the tab named "Outgoing Settings"
    • Check the first checkbox that says the server requires SMTP authentication.
    • Hit OK
Test the account by hitting "Test Account Settings." Everything should check out OK. If there is an error, go through the previous steps to verify proper completion. Complete the setup by hitting next. Your email account should be setup at this point.

Question: How do I get into the backend of my website?
How do I get into the backend of my website?

    Solution:

You enter in your full domain name, such as www.i4.net and add the word "admin" to the end of your domain name, such as www.i4.net/admin

This should bring you to the login page.  Enter the login information given to you by your account representative.

If you cannot find the admin page by using www.yourdomain.com/admin, then try the following URLs:

If these sites do not work, there may be a problem in the setup of your site on the server. You will need to contact i4 by sending an email to support@i4.net.
